Introduction

Hi my name is Shareé and I am currently living in Mexico. I am pursing a degree in Educational Technology and my goal is to become an online course facilitator for classes just like this one. My current job is teaching for VIPKID as a English Language Tutor for children in China. I am passionate about reaching others as Ephesians says “Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you…NIV

I have a great deal of energy for the outdoors, and love to spend time exploring, traveling, living in different places, such as Mexico. I enjoy research, analytics and nutrition.

As a Christian, and an educator, I must put my faith and trust in God, to lead me and guide me. In order to lead others, I first look to my leader, Jesus Christ. I would like to learn more about leadership in a distance education platform. This is my essential as I pursue a career in distance education. If my life were a movie, I would have Emmy Rossum play my role. She is gentle, and wholesome and has a lovely voice, while also being fun and inviting.

Proverbs 1:2-4 “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtility to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion” (KJV)

  1. Hello Shareé! What a beautiful name! Fun side note, when I opened your video my husband was walking by and asked if you were one of my friends, you look so much like her! I’m also doing the educational technology degree, how close are you to being done? I have this course, plus two more so I will be done at the end of this summer. I’ve never been to Mexico, that is neat that you live there. What are you doing there? You mentioned you teach for VIPKID and tutor students in China, so I was wondering how that worked with you being in Mexico. I’m not familiar with what VIPKID is. How long have you lived in Mexico and where are you originally from? I love to travel and would love the opportunity to live abroad so I’m curious how others manage to do it. I bet Mexico has a lot of great hiking opportunities! My husband and I recently started hiking and will be taking a trip this summer to Banff National Park in Canada and we hope to do some hiking and exploring there. I agree with you that the best way to be a good leader is to look to our leader, Jesus Christ. Who could be a better example than him? I feel if I bring some of Jesus’ characteristics to my teaching I can be successful in reaching my teaching goals and in reaching my students. Thank you for sharing about yourself. I enjoyed watching your video and tried to soak up some of the warm weather you have (hurry up and get here Spring!). Good luck in this course and I look forward to working and learning with you this semester.

    1. Hi Melissa,

Mexico is wonderful, and what a great experience it was driving here with my husband and baby from New Hampshire. We are here to introduce our baby boy to my husbands side of the family. We are staying for 9 more months, and we got here on Valentines day. Traveling and living in diverse places is exceptional and extraordinary at building a well rounded world-view.

Congratulations on your first year of marriage and a nice vacation planned! I watched your video, too. I have been to Maryland several times, but I can't say I stayed long, the goal was to get to DC. What is it like there, you said you are running now? I am from New Hampshire, so I know you are still waiting for Spring.

VIPKID is a great work-from-home opportunity. Sadly, they terminated my contract because my internet connection here in Mexico was not capable of staying connected with their servers in China. God will provide another opportunity, He always does.

Banff National Park in Canada will be lovely, I did a google image search and I am overwhelmed by the beauty you are going to encounter. I know you must be excited, looks like you have plenty of activities to choose from.

Following a great leader and role model makes us better role models to our students. Our Lord keeps our hearts full and that makes a powerful and effective difference in the classroom.

I look forward to learning from you this course, and plan to check in each week to see what you have posted.

  2. Hi Sharee,
Oh to be living in Mexico right now.. I live in the EXTREMELY cold part of upstate New York and am currently sitting here watching it snow and wishing we could switch places! I love it here and love the snow but considering the "first day of Spring" was just the other day, I'm ready for the snow to disappear! I think it's wonderful that you want to teach classes such as this one. They provide such amazing opportunities for people throughout the world to connect and learn together. Have you lived in Mexico for long? There must be so many fun things to see and do. My family loves the outdoors and we are always out doing something. Do you plan on staying there or venturing off to other places as well? I hope that your next professional adventure works out and that it finds its way to you soon. Good luck!

    1. Hi Amanda,

My husband and I drove to Mexico from New Hampshire, so I know what the cold and snow is all about. We came here to introduce our baby boy to his grandmother and aunts and uncles. What a blessing to be here. We got here on Valentines Day and we are staying for 6 months.

In just a month we have gone hiking, went to the hot springs, zip lining, fourwheeling out to the waterfalls, and visited several recreational parks on the lake. My Spanish is improving and I found a school that wants to hire me, however, on a visiting Visa, that is not possible right now.

As for a future career, becoming online faculty at a university would be an incredible opportunity. We love to travel and taking work on the go helps broaden my world-view while empowering me to serve Christ where ever he calls me.

I look forward to checking in and working along side you this semester.

    2. Hi Sharee,
Thanks for your sharing your intro. Oh my, how nice is it living in Mexico? I have never been to Mexico but I heard it is a beautiful place. I am definitely going to plan to go next summer. Where are you originally from and how long have you been living there. I know that it is a difficult change to live in a whole different country but I am sure that it is enjoyable experience. While in undergrad school, I planned to study abroad in Spain but I could not find the courage to be away from my family and husband that long. Especially being on different time zones. I felt that most of the time I would be worried about what they were doing and if they were okay and not really enjoying my time in another country. If I could go back I would probably do it now because I feel that I missed out on so much. Now it is my goal to try to see as much of the world before my husband and I decide to have children, and even once we have children, we will still try to explore the world at least once a year. I love the scripture that you chose. I think that it is a true blessing when you can say that you have figured out what the calling on your life is. I know many people who have not yet discovered their calling and at times it is truly frustrating especially when you know that where you currently are is not where you will. People feel like they are living life without a purpose when really God is simply preparing them for what he has called upon their life. It was nice meeting you Sharee and I hope that you have a productive semester.
